Toyota BZ4X Electric Car: An Underrated Gem!

Lately, Toyota’s electric vehicles have seen a significant price drop. As someone who’s been eagerly considering the 2023 Toyota BZ4X, I’m starting to have doubts.

There’s a lot of online chatter, with some saying the major Toyota BZ4X price reduction is due to product issues, while others attribute it to intense competition within the automotive industry.

However, rather than relying on hearsay, I decided to get a firsthand experience. I asked a friend to connect me with an acquaintance at a local Toyota 4S dealership, and arranged a test drive for the upcoming weekend to assess the actual situation and gather insights from insiders.

Exterior of Toyota BZ4X

Here’s the one I’m talking about. When I arrived, it was in the middle of a car wash. Let’s start with two pictures of it post-bath.

“Hammerhead Shark” Front End

The front end is quite distinctive, and the hollowed-out design gives it a strong electric vibe. It’s safe to say that the exterior design has almost no resemblance to the typical Toyota family look.

Some online users jokingly call it the ‘Hammerhead Shark’, and I must admit, it does bear a resemblance…

Rear End

The rear end may seem a bit bulky, but the single-bar taillights look really cool. I’ll definitely have to check out how they perform during the test drive.

Here are two official photos. At this point, I actually thought the car was blue-black in color. The decorative strip in the middle of the front grille is a bit misleading; at first, I thought it was an LED light strip.

The aesthetics are decent; after all, with the electric vehicle market booming, it’s a bit challenging for any car to stand out on looks alone. However, I’d say this one would rank above average in terms of appearance when seen on the streets.

Impressive Peacock Paint

The paint job is impressive, with this color being a real standout. In sunlight, it appears to be blue-black, but upon closer inspection, it reveals a peacock green hue. Moreover, the attention to detail is absolutely top-notch.

Interior of Toyota BZ4X

Fabric Interior

The interior is fabric. I was a bit concerned about it getting dirty easily, but the tactile experience is refreshingly unique. If you get a chance to touch it yourself, you might find it more surprising than a full soft-touch interior.

Soft-Touch Materials

As for the rest of the soft-touch materials, the feel is quite standard, but the colors are rather appealing.

Storage Space

Underneath the gear lever, there’s another hollowed-out design. It not only provides storage space but also allows for charging. It’s a handy spot for stashing items you don’t want cluttering up the rear seats.

Large Screen

The infotainment screen is arguably the clearest I’ve seen in any Toyota vehicle. It’s responsive and quick, giving off a distinct tech-savvy vibe.

Driving Experience

My friend mentioned that this car’s main advantage lies in its strong competitiveness. Many electric vehicles in the same price range are packed with fancy features, but fundamentally, they offer just a few practical ones.

Additionally, Toyota’s electric cars are still relatively unfamiliar to most people. The ones that sell well are mostly plug-in hybrids, which actually represent Toyota’s battery technology quite well.

During the test drive, I felt the power was undoubtedly impressive. After all, it’s a Electric Car, and when that green light turns on, a step on the accelerator makes any conventional car seem sluggish.

According to my friend, the range is decent. Charging it once allows for more than twenty test drives, with varying distances each time. Overall, it doesn’t seem to overstate its mileage.

Final Thoughts

From the overall test drive experience, it seems like this car aligns well with my expectations for a Electric Vehicle from Toyota. It’s rare to find a car that I like, and considering the current competitive pricing, I might as well be a guinea pig for it! I’ll be sure to report back to everyone once I have it!
